Beyond Belair

What was the non-suburban extension of the Belair line called by the South Australian Railways? And is the standard gauge bit called that anymore? The Australian Rail Track Corporation just calls it Mile End to Wolseley. Wongm (talk) 11:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

How far past Belair are you referring to? (Possible candidates include "Bridgewater Line" and Adelaide-Melbourne line".) Pdfpdf (talk) 13:26, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that - didn't look there. A semantics thing, but the 'Bridgewater line' isn't really a closed railway, but a defunct railway passenger service - the physical line is still in use. Some discussion on Victorian examples is at Talk:Rail_transport_in_Victoria#Naming_lines. I have been working on the VIC end as Western standard gauge line, Victoria. the physical line is still in use - that depends how pedantic you are; the physical broad gauge line past Belair no longer exists, whereas the physical track bed is still in use. As you say: "a semantics thing". Pdfpdf (talk) 14:23, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
