Why "Normal"?

Does anybody know why the BNU has "Normal" in its title? Are there other ('special'?) universities in Beijing? Trafford09 (talk) 07:43, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Normal refers to "师范" which translates to Teacher-Training. For other universties types - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:China_university_stubs (talk) 09:32, 05 Sept 2010 (CST)

In English a "Normal School" is a teacher training school, and this is the original reason for naming the Ecole Normale Superieure in France as well. Colin McLarty (talk) 23:07, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Removing junk

There are two paragraphs of what look like well intentioned but unedited literal translations of Chinese text that I have removed. No citations, and very little chance of being able to rescue them. No punctuation, lacking grammatical order or sense in English, and probably of little relevance to the article itself. I'm pasting them here:
