@Roxy the dog What is this [[1]] The text was--Bay was used for Nuns, Monks, and as a lining of soldier's uniforms. The other usages involve covers to carpets and as a tack behind cloth in cabinets. Here is the source [1] Read Page number 159 And the text says Clothing bays were used chiefly for habits of monks and nuns and for lining soldiers' uniforms. "The looking-glass makers also use them behind their glasses, to preserve the tin, or quicksilver, and the case-makers to line their cases" (Chambers). "Much in use by cabinet-makers and upholsterers. By the latter, bays is used to cover carpets, and made to fit round the room, to save them. Extending the Bay (Cloth) page edit
I have been researching the bay trade in Colchester and want to add more about the bay trade, how bay was made, and more about Colchester bays to this page. Would this be okay? Harris.Jenny (talk) 14:27, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
