Adairsville-Cassville

Some of Johnston's Confederate troops briefly held a blocking position at Adairsville on May 17. The actual confrontation was near Cassville on May 19, where Johnston planned to attack Sherman's left wing with two of his three corps. This plan mismarried when two Union cavalry divisions appeared unexpectedly in the Confederate right rear. The Confederates then withdrew a short distance to a defensive position which turned out to be vulnerable to artillery fire. That night, they began to retreat south of the Etowah River. • I looked up the original article and it referred only to the skirmish at Adairsville. The article was only later expanded to include the more important encounter at Cassville. Djmaschek (talk) 22:15, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

Cassville

I wrote a new article, the Battle of Cassville (19 May 1864), which had quite a lot of planning and maneuvering, but few casualties. Djmaschek (talk) 04:38, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
