Method of operation edit

The way the first bit of "method of operation" is written "What makes this different from other hydroelectric dams is that during times of low demand, power is taken from coal, nuclear, and other power plants and is used to pump water from the lower to the upper reservoir. " seems to imply that it is some one-of-a-kind or at least very unusual powerplant, but pumped-storage plants are in fact quite common. TheUnnamedNewbie (talk) 11:16, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Current installed capacity edit

Dominion says 2.7GW, but http://www.oatioasis.com/CPL/CPLdocs/Vacar_Serc_Studies.pdf page 174 says 3GW after upgrade - which is true? TGCP (talk) 17:06, 26 August 2010 (UTC) [1] says 510MW per turbine, [2] confirms refurbish but suggested 2.1GW in 2008 TGCP (talk) 23:07, 26 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, I am pretty confused here. In Voith's brochure they state 407 MW each after the upgrade. At the onset of the upgrade, there is a wide variety; 510 MW, 500 MW, 501 MW, etc. The video at Dominion states 2,710 MW total as well but the same page states 3,003 MW. I will look for into this for verification, particularly as it bills itself as the largest PSPS.--NortyNort (Holla) 06:57, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I sent an e-mail to Dominion, hoping for a response or clarification on their website. I will make updates accordingly.--NortyNort (Holla) 07:17, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Storage Capacity Original Research edit

The "Method Of Operation" section has no inline citations, though an (admittedly hurried) perusal of the article's overall citations seem to support the facts.

However, the final paragraph seems to be claiming a particular energy storage capacity based on an in-text calculation. The calculation itself is non-obvious to a lay person, and the validity of the inputs (e.g. using maximum static pressure rather than something like the average) is questionable. It's pretty clearly beyond WP:CALC. Mmtmmt (talk) 19:23, 19 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
