Removed and doubtful text edit

Removed text:

  • was a knee jerk reaction POV
  • The power station,... has been the centre of controversy from the day construction began. As is any nuclear power station, anywhere in the world!
  • by the so-called People Power Revolution POV both ways.
  • When Marcos was overthrown in early 1986 a team of international inspectors visited the site and declared it unsafe and inoperable as it was built near major earthquake fault lines and near the Pinatubo volcano which at the time was dormant. Citation(s) needed for this one IMO. Who was this team? What organisation(s) did they represent? Is their report available online?

Doubtful text:

  • The distance of the plant to the Kilometer Zero post (near the Rizal Park and U.S. Embassy) is well under sixty miles (~45 miles), when using online maps (Google, Bing). The sixty mile distance is erroneous, and should be corrected.
  • was completed in 1984 yet Marcos ruled until 1986. What was this first two-year delay in opening the station? An explanation should be added to the history.
  • and enshrined this into the Constitution. A citation would be good for this.
  • Some good material has been added, and apparently by a new contributor. Great stuff! I hope they understand the reasons for the edits I have made to their work. Andrewa 15:12, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Yeah, Ive heard from other sources that fault lines were a major concern for the nuclear reactor.

Im not an expert on this article though. Jak722 23:08, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

What sources in particular? Andrewa 16:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • That would explain why the article currently reads owing to safety considerations. My feeling is that this is pure propaganda; The reasons for the closure were political. Minor fault lines are fairly common; They discovered two that they didn't know were there previously while building OPAL for example. They got a lot of news coverage, but they didn't actually affect the project greatly. Andrewa 03:21, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • Though lacking in sources of commercial nuclear power, the Philippines still maintains a modest number of nuclear weapons that are under the close monitoring of the Non Nuclear Proliferation treaty. - is this true? citation please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.53.184.26 (talk) 13:28, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why was the operation of the Bataan nuclear plant mothballed or stopped? edit
