Failed in his claim? edit

It sounds to me that the 2nd Baron succeeded in his claim per [1]. Kittybrewster 12:44, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Complete Peerage says he succeeded, on the date given for his rejection before I edited; I think we are dealing with nationalist self-pity - again.
While it may be true that his nationality was brought up against his son, CP XIII indicates that the issue is the lack of documentation; they sent a mission to Calcutta to take testimony. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:02, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

"potentially polygamous marriage" edit

This quotation - and the whole line of argument that the second Lord Sinha was not eligible to sit because he was an Indian - is not in the Complete Peerage. Where is it from? Is it true? A citation is needed; especially since this page has been vandalized to make the British look prejudiced. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 19:14, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rayment is useful; but the text needs rewriting if no other source is cited. The mention of polygamy in the decision, as Rayment quotes it, is obiter dictum; it does not show that the objection was raised, and remarks that Sinha's marriage always was monogamous.Septentrionalis PMAnderson 04:51, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think we have reached what ought to be a stable text. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:57, 20 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
