Good Article nomination edit

This article is well written and referenced. However, all the images are fair use screen shots. To qaulify for GA they should have detailed fiar use rationales. I will put the article on hold for that to be done (or some of the images removed) until September 11. Eluchil404 23:07, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationales have been added. I hope this helps. Essexmutant 17:54, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
GA now passed. Nice work! Kafziel 12:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

All the pictures don't state their fair use rationale. Please modify this to comply with the GA criteria. Lincher 18:35, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Barnyboatman2.jpg edit

Image:Barnyboatman2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

GA Reassessment edit

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Barny Boatman/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are a number of serious issues that need to be addressed.

  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):   b (MoS):
The prose is poor, maybe a 6/10. Problems are the result of uneven sections, see below.
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
The section on "Other Poker Activities" is a mess: Instead of the list and the loose sentences, please reorganise the section into prose that describes Boatman's career chronologically. This section should be readable, engaging and formatted in paragraphs of adequate length.--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:47, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • It follows the neutral point of view policy.
a (fair representation):   b (all significant views):
  • It is stable.

  • It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned):   b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA):   c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
  • Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:

I will check back in no less than seven days. If progress is being made, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN again. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far. Regards--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:47, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Although this is not a terrible article, it is not up to GA standards and no work has been done. Therefore this article is no longer a GA.--Jackyd101 (talk) 12:22, 23 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not my nickname. edit

Hello. I am Barny Boatman, the subject of this page. My nickname is not, and never was ‘The Humour’ it was invented by a journalist, who used it in article despite my asking her not to and has cropped up from time to time ever since, though not lately. It has never been used by me or by anyone I know. I hate the nickname and even invented another one (Barmy Barny) just to stop ‘The Humour’ ever being used. My name is Barny Boatman, and with a name like that you don’t need a nickname. I don’t know how to edit the page. Can someone please remove ‘The Humour’ please? Thank you very much.
