Fair use rationale for Image:Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick.JPG

edit

Image:Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I have added the following rationale:
Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
1. The subject is notable because of his contributions to record cover design in the 1970s.
2. The image is a particularly remarkable example of his work and illustrates his originality in a manner impossible with just words.
3. It is a low resolution image, and is not suitable for production of counterfeit goods.
4. It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value. (The subject is dead.)

Hopefully that will suffice. Wwwhatsup (talk) 08:52, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The image Image:Sincer01.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Biography

edit

"Reasons to be Cheerful" by Paul Gorman, a biography of Barney Bubbles, has recently been published. This should be a good source for the article. -- The Anome (talk) 10:27, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Note concerning the above comment: "Reasons to be Cheerful" contains many factual errors. It is not necessarily a good source for facts unless they are independently double-checked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.66.226.95 (talk) 10:26, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The fact there is a book should be mentioned. If there is a secondary source that asserts that there are errors in the book that should be mentioned too. Wwwhatsup (talk) 22:50, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Some of the EL descriptions are altogether probably a little too florid. Wwwhatsup (talk) 22:57, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
