Hi all,

Am interested in adding stock pages for the Botswana stock exchange companies. Note there is very little publicly available data on these stocks :(

Can I get feedback on the data provided? And what we need to do to make this a more valuable page.

Once I've feedback on Barclays I'll look to add the rest of the exchange

Page name change edit

Hi all,

Not clear on what's happening here, as the page name request has been closed without the name changing. However, it has changed here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banks_in_Botswana

Can someone please explain/assist with implementing this? The actual bank's name has changed, as has branding, in line with Absa's separation agreement from Barclays.

Nicola Mawson, I see no reason why this should be a controversial move, but the move has been refused, which makes it controversial. Old Naval Rooftops, Could you explain why you refused this move? Please ping with reply. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 12:50, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
As mentioned on the Mauritius move request, Wikipedia titles pages after their common name, not necessarily their official name. O.N.R. (talk) 02:18, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Old Naval Rooftops, I refer you to WP:NCCORP which refers to naming of articles about companies, and does not seem to suggest that a company which has has a major name change should retain the old, possibly misleading name for the article title. A small amount of research will show that although Barclays has a shareholding in the Absa group, the renamed entities are currently subsidiaries of Absa, not of Barclays.
Nicola Mawson, you may be able to explain the situation more precisely. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 06:39, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Good day all

What used to be Barclays Bank Mauritius - for example -is now Absa Bank Country. The Absa Group page has been changed, [1], as have some of the subsidiaries. It is now a common name, and not just a legal name, so there's no "trading as" issue. Barclays PLC has an almost 15% stake, it is no longer a majority. Trust that clarifies and the page can now be ranamed/moved.

I was not aware of this editing controversy before I moved the page. I discovered the brouhaha when I came to reclassify the page after editing all day! Anyways, I will recreate the page as I found it and leave it at that. Fsmatovu (talk) 17:16, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Two pages edit

Hi team,

This old page for Absa Bank Botswana is still live. Could it be archived?

The correct page is her[3]e: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absa_Bank_Botswana_Limited

Thanks N Nicola Mawson (talk) 05:50, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Not done:@Nicola Mawson: Could you be clearer in what exact change you believe should be made? Ideally in the format "change 'x' to 'y'"? Thanks, RandomCanadian (talk | contribs) 16:42, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi RandomCanadian

Please can this page be removed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barclays_Bank_of_Botswana

As this is the correct page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absa_Bank_Botswana_Limited

Thanks. Barclays Africa (including Bots) changed its name to Absa, which made Barclays Bank Botswana page redundant, although it seems to have been left behind in the page name move
