"Baiser", in the French language, when used as a verb, means to f**k. Just wanted to put that out there.
-Actually, it means "to kiss", but it's used as "to fuck" in slang. I don't know which one of the meanings the band went for with the name, I'd always thought it was "to kiss"...

Either the article's introduction should read "...from the French word for 'to fuck' (I'm sorry, I just don't do coy asterisks for the faint-hearted), or from the French word for a kiss". The French Wikipedia entry is quite unambiguous on this matter (i.e. the word has very different meanings when used as a noun or a verb), and this is confirmed by my own experience as a graduate of French and as someone who has lived in France and studied at the Sorbonne (I did consult several native speakers on this distinction at the time). - I believe they originally named themselves after the word for "kiss", since the word "kuchizuke", meaning "kiss", appears several times in their discography, but in an interview, an interviewer asked the band this question, and Yukari said you could use whichever meaning you'd prefer to translate it with. c: - Arashi nightmare (talk) 14:10, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
