The problem with the hard redirect edit

This topic will only be typed in by someone who doesn't know the name is really Bairiki.  The problem with the hard redirect is that if the user doesn't have Javascript enabled he/she may or may not find the "Bairiki", which defeats the purpose of the Article.  I tried making the redirect to Bairiki, but users with Javascript enabled are sent directly on to South Tarawa#BairikiUnscintillating (talk) 03:55, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Everything you are describing is a feature of hard redirects, not a problem with them. Redirects to sections are supposed to take people directly to the sections. Redirects from misspellings are very common on the project. In this case the two are combined. Again, that's very common. And very proper.
On my talk you say something about a misspelled "template". I do not see any such misspelled template, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. Maybe the {{R from misspelling}}? If so, then that is a very standard template when you have a redirect from a misspelling.
Also, with a soft redirect here you are creating a Wikipedia:Double redirects. These are generally considered bad things around here.
So, to put it simply, I don't see what I would consider any valid reason for using a soft redirect in this case over a hard redirect. That said, I could easily be wrong. I'm going to post on one of the Redirect centered talk page asking for people more knowledgeable in the use of redirects to come here and comment in one direction or the other. - TexasAndroid (talk) 12:57, 19 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
