The list is not quite complete, I fear. -- Visviva 21:20, 14 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistancy edit

Why is Baekdu referred to as "Mount Baekdu" but Jiri is referred to as "Jirisan"? This is a frustrating and unprofessional inconsistancy. I personally perfer "Mount Baekdu" and "Mount Jiri", but a consensus should be met and a consistant method adopted. I am thoroughly against the Korean government's preferred naming scheme: "Mount Baekdusan." The redunancy is mind numbing.--Bentonia School (talk) 13:26, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Article name edit

I think the article should be renamed from "Baekdudaegan" to "Paektu-daegan" or "Baekdu-daegan". I'd argue the former.

I'm myself South Korean and blah blah all the nationalistic nonsense about using RR spelling, but Paektu Mountain is already using MR spelling, and dashes are allowed in both RR and MR to divide up words. The text of the article, as of 24 April 2023, already uses the dash spelling anyway.

I'm going to go ahead and make the change, seeing as the page is relatively inactive. Please let me know if disagree. toobigtokale (talk) 05:03, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ok after rereading the body of the article, maybe will do the latter "Baekdu-daegan", because of the academic precedent of using that spelling. The English-language literature that discusses it primarily uses the South Korean spelling. Frustrating that the common romanization differs even when discussing the same mountain lol... toobigtokale (talk) 05:15, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request: Western geography take edit

I (hopefully) cleaned up article a bit.

The article needs information from academic sources on how Western geography/geology views the concept of Baekdu-daegan. imo it's critical information that's currently missing as of April 2023 toobigtokale (talk) 05:44, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

List of mountains edit

Btw, there used to be a list of mountains in the mountain range on the page, but I deleted it. Reasoning is that it 100% overlaps with the List of mountains in Korea article, because Baekdu-daegan is supposed to be all the mountains on the peninsula. toobigtokale (talk) 17:52, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
