Creationism

This article is POV. I right away saw "dating back to 23 million years ago"! If this is a neutral encyclopedia, then it shouldn't contain that kind of "information". We don't knew that the earth is that old! I never see any articles written from a Creationist's point of view! Scorpionman 23:24, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

There is a reason for that: creationism is minority view, which means that it receives less attention than majority views, I'm afraid. Policy is quite clear on this. Scientifically there is no doubt that the stated ages are correct, and replacing scientifically derived data with religiously derived data is a violation of npov. -- Ec5618 00:06, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Too much human history? Not enough geological or recreational?

The article talks in depth on human history that relates to the park, but very little about the formations, wildlife, and events that are currently visible. The human history section is very indepth, and so I balk at editing it down, but there is a definite lack in important areas (i.e. recreation, geology, visitor's guide, etc.).

In my opinion, the site should give people an idea of what they would see and do at the park in addition to the history behind it. Benwildeboer 20:29, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

The second half of the section on American Indians has little to do with Badlands National Park. It is just the events that lead up to the Wounded Knee Massacre, which didn't happen in Badlands NP. At most I would mention the few details that did transpire in the park and that the massacre took place nearby. The details of how it all happened are already in the article for the massacre, so they don't need to be repeated here. sdgjake 19:50, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

I added a little more on the fossil species found at the park. I also changed some of the species it says was found, for both sheep and pigs are old world species, so they wouldn't be found in the badlands —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalraptor (talkcontribs) 17:16, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I've looked practically everywhere on the NPS badlands site for this kind of thing, and I found? Practically nothing. (The only things I found were the little "did you know" boxes at the bottom of every page.) -timothymh, who is definitely not a bunny. 01:22, 7 March 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Timothymh (talkcontribs)

establishment date

The establishment date in the infobox says 1939, but that was as a national monument, not a park. It was designated a national park in 1978, so should the date be changed? AlexiusHoratius 09:42, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Adjustments made...thanks for mentioning it.--MONGO 09:57, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

history

I do not quite understand the first sentence in the Administrative History section. Could someone explain and/or reword the sentence? --timothymh (talk) 12:39, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Twitter controversy

Hi there. If you've followed today's US news you may have heard about the Badlands NPS Twitter account "going rogue" on Twitter regarding climate change in response to the Trump Administration's request for parks (and other fed departments) to stop posting on social media about climate change. Should we include this in the article someplace? Perhaps in history or...? Thoughts? I think we should. Sources: [1][2][3] (and many more). Thanks! Missvain (talk) 01:36, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

While Wikipedia is WP:NOTNEWS, I believe it would be better suited to an article about the Trump administration and its interactions with Twitter. The controversy is not about the park itself, on the staff (which would fall under NPS). SounderBruce 05:28, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
I know we're not news, but, this seemed to have blown up in the face of the administration, and caused a major discussion across the media and the public about "censorship" and government control, etc. Perhaps I'll bring it up regarding NPS or on the Trump Administration page. I have a feeling we'll have to have an entire Wikipedia article devoted to Trump and Twitter soon :) Missvain (talk) 17:14, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
