Oppose merge of Excavator. No consensus of merge of Backhoe loader

(non-admin closure)

Overlap with Excavator and Backhoe loader. Also, this is commonly called a digger.--195.216.29.218 (talk) 11:48, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Merge of Excavator

  • Oppose Excavator is too broad. There are many common forms of excavator, backhoes are only one form within that. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:57, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Oppose Entirely different machine --FNQ (talk) 22:00, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Oppose excavators are large tracked equipment that can rotate about the vertical axis above the center of the track carriage; backhoe tractors are small wheeled equipment, which the backhoe arm pivots around the joint connecting it to the main body of the vehicle -- 70.51.200.135 (talk) 05:43, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Oppose excavators and backhoe are two different kinds of machines, that would be as if we merge Hoe_(tool) and Pickaxe together into one article. -Lumber Jack- (talk) 10:48, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Support Same thing. 'Backhoe' is the simpler name and equally clear. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:57, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
    • No it isn't, since a backhoe tractor does not have a loader bucket, a backhoe tractor does not perform the duties of a payloader. -- 70.51.200.135 (talk) 05:44, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Oppose 'Backhoe' is the implement, 'Backhoe Loader' is the entire machine --FNQ (talk) 22:00, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Oppose this is clearly different, it is a backhoe and a loader, it is not just a backhoe or excavator. -- 70.51.200.135 (talk) 05:41, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
  • Undecided One is a part of the other, but can also be mounted onto a tractor. Both articles discuss the same aspects a two times. Maybe the Article Back hoe should be cleared of the information about Backhoe loader and that be replaced with just as see also.-Lumber Jack- (talk) 21:57, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
  • support per WP:COMMONNAME. Yes, I see that most of the manufacturers refer to "backhoe loaders", and some of them will sell you the backhoe as an attachment to your tractor-of-whatever-sort. But they don't all do that, and anyway, I'm dubious that anyone outside of sales calls the whole thing anything but a "backhoe". Clarification can be made in the lead. Adding individual corporate sellers to generic topics is unacceptable as has been discussed time and time again. It should not be readded until consensus is reached. Praxidicae (talk) 14:25, 13 June 2020 (UTC)

I agree 100% with Praxidicae. That is an obvious spam link added with promotional intent. This is inappropriate. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:25, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
@Praxidicae and Cullen328: any idea about theconstructor.org? as per this I guess anyone with an account can write on their website. GSS💬 07:34, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
A website that has a banner reading "Earn Money From Points & Badges" is blatant, obnoxious, in your face spam, and such a link should never be allowed on this encyclopedia. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:44, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Thank you, I have removed it. GSS💬 07:49, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Cullen328 theconstructor.org should be blacklisted. Big YIKES on that one. Praxidicae (talk) 12:28, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

extra pivot point

there is a job site near me with a liebherr 904 litronic there appears to be an extra pivot point and piston near the cab if you look at the photo on page 4 https://www.coastlinecd.com/pdf/LiebherrMaterialHandlerASeries/A904CExcavator.pdf underneath the "9" are three hydraulic cylinders where normally there are only two it looks like an extra pivot point ??
