Ayrton Fagundes is an important historical figure for the history of the early television newsmaking in Brazil. He was the first broadcast journalist to present live news at night. He was the first anchorman to broadcast in colour, live, on national televison the annual Southern celebration of "Festa da Uva" a grape harvesting traditional in the region of Caxias do Sul, in Brazil.
