Close paraphrasing edit

This article was tagged by a bot for its close following of [1], and although revised since then it continues to follow very closely on that source and subpages. For an example of close paraphrasing, consider the following:

The commandant of Augusta Arsenal, Captain Matthew M. Payne, recommended moving to a nearby hilltop, and in November 1826, Congress authorized the purchase of 72-acre Belle Vue (beautiful vista) summer estate at Summerville, Georgia, from Senator Freeman Walker for $6,000. The Army set aside a one-acre parcel as a cemetery for the Walker family.

The source says:

The commandant, Capt. Matthew M. Payne, recommended the arsenal be moved to the healthier “hill” location, and in 1826 Congress authorized the purchase of 72 acres that were owned by Sen. Freeman Walker. Walker’s summer estate, called Belle Vue (beautiful vista) was purchased for $6,000, and a one-acre parcel was set aside as a cemetery for the Walker family.

The article says:

With an appropriation of $49,000 and some building materials salvaged from the original Augusta Arsenal, the Army constructed four buildings of the present quadrangle and a loop-holed wall to contain them.

The source says:

With a $49,000 appropriation and some building materials from the original arsenal, four buildings (the present quadrangle) connected by a loop-holed wall were constructed.

The article says:

When Georgia seceded from the Union on 19 January 1861, Governor Joseph E. Brown called for the surrender of Augusta Arsenal; a thousand local militiamen backed the demand.

The next page of the source says:

When Georgia seceded from the Union on January 19, 1861, Governor Joseph E. Brown called for the arsenal's surrender, a demand backed by a thousand local militiamen.

Other passages may similarly follow too closely.

While facts are not copyrightable, creative elements of presentation - including both structure and language - are. Since the close paraphrasing, which seems to have continued through other sections, has not been addressed, the article has been stubbed for now. Please be sure that text is written from scratch. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:18, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
