Dear all, Please help completing this article on auditory feedback, yours Bkroeger (talk) 19:16, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The role of auditory feedback (AF) is outlined rather succinctly, enough to be understood without reducing the writing, but the article is in need of more citations. Its role in speech is obviously more detailed than the other two sections on AF's importance in singing and bird songs. Singing and bird songs could go under one heading due to the lack of detail on both, unless the benefits of AF can be explicitly defined instead of directing straight to a reference. How does AF compare to other feedback mechanisms (i.e. visual feedback) as an aid in learning and acquiring language, or speech production in general (i.e. how effective is it)? I would like to suggest some modifications on the content and style.
1. The contents could be enriched with updated research. For instance, a study comparing speech production with or without auditory feedback using auditory startle shows consistent phonetic details across conditions, confirming the proposition of an “internal model” for speech production presented by Perkell et al. in 1997 (Note).
2. For references 5 and 6, it would be better to highlight the main point of each research in one sentence instead of referring the readers directly to the original work.
3. In References, the study of Perkell et al. 1997 is missing, whereas a study not cited in the main content, Hussain et al. 2012, is included. Please clarify that.

A huge improvement in the article. I would like to suggest adding some citation in the lead section. Siewyeng (talk) 10:02, 4 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
