I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 16:06, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

The image is appropriately tagged; sources are reliable.

  • "he wrote various didactics": does the source use "didactic" as a noun? Does this refer to a poetic form?
Ops, the source says "didactic" as well, fixed it. --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:51, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • How can it be simultaneously true that his work is "highly esteemed in scholarship" but "overlooked by scholars"? And that he has "only received little attention in scholarship"? Seems like perhaps a conflict between the western and Persian sources?
Ops, seems like I misread the source. He was highly esteemed amongst figures around his own time period, not present-day. Slightly changed it [1], will change it more in a bit. EDIT: Did a bit more adjusting, thoughts? --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:12, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • "Athir al-Din is well-known for his rhetoric skills, especially when it was a figure of speech": what does this mean? "Figure of speech" is a pretty general term.
Unfortunately the source simply says "figure of speech" ("Athīr al-Dīn stands out for his rhetorical ability, particularly in the construction of figures of speech."). I've altered it a bit to match the source more, thoughts? [2] --HistoryofIran (talk) 23:51, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's a bit vague. I think I would just cut it. If you'd rather keep it, perhaps make it a direct quote? And given that we've said he's neglected by modern scholars, I think we need to say in what sense he is "well-known for his rhetorical skills" -- "scholars who have studied his work praise his rhetorical skills", perhaps? I see. Thoughts on this? [3] --HistoryofIran (talk) 01:30, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

There were a few infelicities in the prose but it was easier to fix them myself. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 16:23, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Now looks good; passing. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 01:46, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
