I disagree wit the assessment that object is named after any unit that followed 3rd Infantry Division's capture of Baghdad. The gate is named after my company, A CO (Assassins) 4-64 Armor (Tuskers), 2nd Brigade (Spartans)3rd ID. A CO captured this gate on 8 APR 2003 under the command of CPT Phillip Wolford. It is located about 300m south of "CHECK POINT 1" which is the northeast entrance to the "Green Zone" near the former Ministry of Planning. I would be open to discusing the finer points of who named it, since i personally commanded a tank through the arch and was wounded about 30 minutes later just north of it. Phillip Cornell, USA.

This isn't a picture of the Assassin's Gate. This is a picture of what locals refer to as "the Dome", on the Qadisiya Expressway. The story re. the Jerusalem replica and Saddam is true, and DOES apply to that arch, but that arch isn't the Assassin's Gate. The Assassin's Gate (i.e. Checkpoint One into the IZ) is located on Haifa Street, around the corner from this arch, and is used as a primary entrance/exit into the International Zone (which is another give-away -- you can see on that arch that there is no security point established). It can be seen on this group's website: http://cponefoundation.org/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/Assassins_Gate.213153622_std.jpg Not an ad, they just have a good picture of the Gate, which I don't want to steal. If I can find a free image I'll put it up...but I'll let whoever has been restoring this image after others delete it erase it.Jidunlap (talk) 11:24, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're right, the picture on the page isn't that of the Assassin's gate, I'm not sure about the "relocating the dome" story, doesn't sound right. Saddam Hussein was always on about liberating Palestine, so way relocate the dome? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zzztriple2000 (talkcontribs) 23:22, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is not the Assassins Gate, It is in the Green Zone but is not one of the four primary points of entry to the Green Zone. It is located in the middle of the Green Zone close to the Sword display. NOTE: these are both identical gates. If you look at both pictures you can see the trees near the gate. You can also (if you look closely) see the top of the gate on the second gate is in the shape of a semi-circle. You can also see the viewing point on the left of the gate in both pictures.
