Homosexual pedophile edit
Does "Homosexual pedophile" equal "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBT)"? We don't have a category for"Homosexual pedophile", but that would seem more accurate. Will Beback talk 00:23, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- I believe "homosexual" is just a more general term that covers the more specific terms "lesbian" and "gay". Or are you saying he was not homosexual, but since the victims of his pedophilia were males as he was, the "homosexual" simply describes the crimes and not the person? - He said he's a "homosexual pedophile". He did not say that he was a gay man. If we feel a need to categorize him by sexual orientation, then "homosexual pedophile" would be the accurate term. Will Beback talk 01:03, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- True, but in this case he is a man and "homosexual" = "gay", unless the word "homosexual" is describing the targets of the crime rather than the person. If someone calls themself "homosexual", then they are appropriately categorized as an "LGBT person". The question is what the word "homosexual" is describing. - "Homosexual" was Bishop's word, not mine, and if you read carefully, I did not equate the phrase "homosexual pedophile" with "gay". Think more broadly: a pedophile is not necessarily exclusively attracted to non-adult people. It's possible for a person to be a gay man and a pedophile w.r.t. boys, just as it's possible for a heterosexual man to also be a pedophile. I think you're reading a bit too much into the issue and taking a definitive stand when it's actually ambiguous—that is why another source is needed. - I didn't mean to imply you were making that connection. I don't see any info on any sexual attraction to or relationships with adults. Also, fwiw, the citation's link is dead. A new links is here.
