Missing war years. Seems unusual. edit
The information on the subject is scanty concerning the war years. Can we assume he was in the Hitler Youth which was compulsory after a time? If so, what did he do in it? As the war progressed, the HJs were virtually an auxiliary arm of the army. What about his family, his parents? Was his father in the Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS? Gung-ho Nazis or dissidents? This is no information ion any of this available? That seems unlikely to me regarding such an accomplished individual.HistoryBuff14 (talk) 17:32, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
