A possible template

A possible template for the evolution of this article could be:

Architecture in Omaha, Nebraska (and similar articles).

As such, it may be appropriate to ensure that "Architecture of San Francisco" redirects here. Unfortunately, I am not sure how to do this, so some more enterprising Wikipedian may wish to ensure that this article follows naturally in such a series:

(list taken from Architecture Stubs).

Ideally, this article will be referenced in the main San Francisco article, so that it will fit in the series of articles like:

.. and the like.

For this reason also, it would be appropriate that "Architecture in San Francisco" and/or "Architecture of San Francisco" redirects here. Mr manilow (talk) 20:28, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I created the redirects. This is a very large topic so the article will take some time and effort to create properly. I note a couple things. One is that it would be helpful to create or link to lists of important San Francisco buildings, monuments, and architects known for being based or working in SF. Another is that we have to be careful about Victorian architecture. Much of what is reflexively called Victorian because it's quaint to modern eyes is actually in a different style or a sub-genre. San Francisco is actually known for a lot of Queen Anne, Beaux Arts / neoclassical, Arts and Crafts, and modernist buildings. Just about the only style that passed the city by for the most part is postmodernism (though there is the Neiman Marcus store). You might also want to look at Category:Buildings and structures in San Francisco, California and Template:Buildings in San Francisco Wikidemon (talk) 17:02, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Would it be worth getting more photos for this article? I can go out and take photos if needed. 24.4.36.130 (talk) 22:50, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Sure, that would be great! I feel like this topic needs to be expanded a bit, because right now it's mostly summaries of Fort Point and the Golden Gate Bridge. It should focus on architecture more, and having more photos of the city's various architectural styles would be a nice addition. Just make sure you follow Wikipedia's photo guidelines. Thanks! San Francisco architectureArchitecture of San Francisco – per articles on the architecture of major cities, and nations, eg: Architecture of London. cannot do this automatically, due to a redirect in place already. Mercurywoodrose (talk) 05:43, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
