Talk:Anthony Hayes (actor)

Latest comment: 4 years ago by 157.131.246.136 in topic Criticism?

I created this article. Why? Because, having created the article for Cosi ( a favourite movie of mine), and in the process checking the link to the article on Ben Mendelsohn, the protagonist, found it didn’t have a Filmography, so I added one. As I was in the process of updating that, I checked the link for Animal Kingdom and noticed that it lacked a Cast List, which I also added. But when I clicked on Anthony Hayes, it came up with an article about someone called "Stevie Plunder", who used to be called “Anthony Hayes”. That was confusing and the only way I could smooth things out was to create a separate page for Anthony Hayes (actor). In the process of doing that I came across his website, which included an e-mail address for him. I used that to request permission to use his photo in the Wikipedia article. He graciously responded and gave permission. Now someone is claiming that I have " a close connection with its subject". Amazing! I have a "close connection" to Anthony Hayes the same way I have a "close connection" to Barack Obama. i.e., I've heard of them both.

And, as a personal comment, I find it offensive the way some people leap to extreme conclusions and make commensurate accusations, without ever bothering to make a basic polite enquiry. Wikipedia certainly deserves its reputation as a place where the well-intentioned are routinely bludgeoned. Kwah-LeBaire (talk) 03:32, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Criticism? edit

According to the article:

In April 2015, Hayes was criticized for being an organiser of the #saveourboys video…

From what the rest of the paragraph says, I can't see anything negative. The reference link is a 404 error, but even if it were valid, I'd expect the page itself to tell me what he was criticized for, and by whom. As it is, I'm left to guess.

Did pro-death-penalty Australians criticize them? Was the video racist against Indonesians? Was it just way too late to get involved and obviously doomed to failure? Did the campaign seem to be taking the piss instead of seriously trying to help? Were there unforeseen consequences, like maybe damaging the PM during an election leading to gains by far-right parties? Or what? --157.131.246.136 (talk) 20:37, 20 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
