WikiProject Biography Assessment comments edit

The article contains a decent amount of information, although each section can be expanded further, and the introduction is perhaps too brief to adequately describe his notability as an aviation pioneer (refer to the Manual of Style). A major aspect for improvement should be the addition of credible sources to support the article. Happy editing! +A.0u 01:41, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Olympic Games 1928 edit

A person named H.G. Fokker competed in the 6 Metre class during the sailing of the 1928 Summer olympics in Amsterdam. Knowing that Fokker was a yachtsman and age and background fit, can anyone confirm of deny that this person was the famous Antony Fokker?NED33 (talk) 19:44, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I very much doubt it:Fokker makes no mention of it in his astonishingly self-aggrandising autobiography.TheLongTone (talk) 09:09, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Correct. The Sailor involved is Hans FokkerNED33 (talk) 13:19, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Illegitimate Children edit

By no means impossible that Fokker fathered a few, in fact it would probably have been in character, but we do need a "real" source. The one given by the person who inserted this "fact" is not a very reliable one - most of its content is a direct lift from the infamous "autobiography" - and, much more serious, it contains no mention of any Fokker offspring - legitimate or otherwise. So, with some regret, no, we can't have it here. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 19:54, 26 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Birthplace edit

Was it Blitar or Kediri? Hegner (generally a very good source, if an old one) actually has "Blitar, Kediri", as if one place were a suburb or very close neighbour of the other. Has someone with a better knowledge of the geography of East Java than I a better idea? Remembering we're talking about colonial Java nearly a hundred and twenty years ago, and there have no doubt been many changes since then. Does either city administration (assuming the two places both have one) actually claim him as a famous "son"? -Soundofmusicals (talk) 22:10, 9 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
