Deletion edit

perhaps someone can explain what's happening here. This seems to have been tipped for deletion before it is even begun? Sorry it is my first article and I am currently struggling with the system a bit though will have a referenced and functional article by the end of the evening provided that someone doesn't decide to chuck it off in the meantime..

Thanks! Try searching on ("allen, A A" plus entomology), that gets 1,920 relevant hits, which is not bad for someone whose peak of scientific activity was pre-internet age. I started this article at 20.30 this evening, give it a chance Coleopterist (talk) 22:53, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I will take a look then. Safiel (talk) 22:59, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Looks like sufficient notability. I will leave the PROD up for the time being, but there is a full week on that, which will be plenty of time for you to place sufficient references in the article. Safiel (talk) 23:03, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi- I have fleshed it out a bit, though for biographical information I will have to wait for the obituaries to be published by people that knew him better than me (since at present there is no secondary biographical source and he never published anything autobiographical). All I could find so far is the notce by Barclay of the receipt of his collection at the Natural History Museum and some details of his professional activities. The newspaper obit will apparently cite his activities during world war II etc., which I don't know about. The other task I have is to get onto some databases to find out exactly how many papers he published (it says 'hundreds' now citing Barclay but I have heard 800 and 1000 bandied around. One of the obituarists may count them. Photographs- there are two that I know of that I can get permission to put into the public domain but I won't do that until I am fairly sure it isn't going to get deleted. Thanks in advance for any feedback or advice- Coleopterist (talk) 20:30, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Safiel- I put a lead paragraph in. Thanks for your guidance on my first wikipedia article, and any more comments will be gratefully received. I will add more as I get more information but I hope that others will also add material now it is here Coleopterist (talk) 23:58, 27 December 2010 (UTC) ,Reply
