Proposed WikiProject

There is now a proposed WikiProject for the Caribbean area, including Anguilla, at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Caribbean. "Anguillan" or "Anguillian"?

I'm not entirely sure whether the correct adjective is "Anguillan" or "Anguillian". Dictionaries seem to list only "Anguillan", but actual usage seems divided. Is one form preferable or are they both equally acceptable? Matt 20:38, 12 September 2006 (UTC).

One of my favorite sites (http://www.anguilla-beaches.com/) calls inhabitants "Anguillians." She should know, she's there a couple of times a year with her family apparently. Speaking of which, I notice that her site's not listed in the External Sites section anymore (??)Maltiti 22:55, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Update: I re-added the "Anguilla Beaches" site with an additional mention of videos that I just found. A one of a kind resource for a one of a kind island. I can't wait to visit. Err, but Grenada first or my parents will have my head! Maltiti 23:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Pronunciation

How is the name officially pronounced - the English (ang-wee-lah?) or the Spanish way? Please, reply in English at bg:Беседа:Малки Антили#Ангиля или Ангуила. Also, I think it's useful information that should be added to the title section of the article.  Christomir

Just a quick question

Generally yes, as folks in Angullia were granted British Citizenship under the British Overseas Territories Act 2002. IANAL, though.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hoshie (talk • contribs).

It's a straight yes. Anyone born in the British Overseas Territories (apart from the Sovereign Base Areas) are "British Overseas Territories citizens" and have full settlement rights in the UK per any other British citizen. 86.7.211.128 (talk) 01:41, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

References

There doesn't seem to be any way I can correctly add a reference for my source to the previously existing Reference section with the footnoted reference. (Every way I've tried removes the existing footnote.) I tried doing it as a footnote also, but it gave it the number 1, which is already in use by the other (completely unrelated) footnote. So that doesn't seem like it will work. It's really ludicrous to have two References sections, but at this point I can't come up with a better solution. Any ideas? Item to change on The Valley page (incorrect table name)

I'm copying this here because it will get very little attention on the page in question. On the page for The Valley, there is a very small table showing The Valley's population at several points in time. It is incorrectly labeled "Change in Population." (The table doesn't give any change statistics, it just shows what the population was for each year listed. It does not say how that number increased or decreased. It only shows "change in population" by inference.) I'd like to retitle it simply as "Population" or "Population by Year," but I can't do that in the normal edit mode. Anguilla Rebellion

How come this most outstanding rebellion and the subsequent "British invasion" does not get more coverage? The story I read in a newspaper a long time ago is a scribtwriters dream and even true.

Split

I do not support splitting the culture section into a separate article at the moment. Its size seems in proportion to the rest of the article. If a separate article was made, then a summary of the key information would need to be retained here for completeness anyway, and it all adds duplication and maintenance effort, which is magnified for these relatively low-trffic pages. In such cases the specialist spin-off articles and main articles tend to get randomly updated and soon get out of sync. God Save The Queen

Can someone please add the national anthem

"The" descendants of slaves

In the article I read: "The majority of residents (90.08%) are black, the descendants of slaves transported from Africa." I suggest changing this to: "The majority of residents (90.08%) are black, including descendants of slaves transported from Africa.", assuming some black people could be other than descendants of slaves and some descendants of slaves could have left Anguilla in which case no longer are (all) the descendants on Anguilla.Redav (talk) 12:52, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

British Minister responsible

Tariq Ahmad is listed. He is Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth. Errors

According to your post, Anguilla is the ONLY former british colony that does not accept cricket as its national sport. This is an error as India lists Field Hockey as it's national sport even though Cricket is the most popular game in the sub-continent.
