How does Austro-Hungarian fit in here? edit

How was Mircovich a subject/citizen of the Austro-Hungarian empire? The entry on Montenegro says that Montenegro was recognized as an independent nation in 1878. This entry says Mircovich was was born c. 1879.

I'm not saying that he was not a subject/citizen of Austria-Hungary but I think this needs for investigation to show why he was. Could one of you who is a specialist in this area do that? Thanks. (71.22.47.232 (talk) 00:40, 17 November 2010 (UTC))Reply

Oops! Reading it all again I see that he was an ethnic Montenegrin born in the polynational A-H Empire. (71.22.47.232 (talk) 00:45, 17 November 2010 (UTC))Reply

The first line, about Montenegro being occupied by Austria-Hungary, is still not correct. As you not, Montenegro was a separate state when he was born (and had been de facto independent long before 1878). His birthplace of Petrovac is on the coast, and probaby at the time was part of the Austrian crownland of Dalmatia, as near as I can tell from the map here. I'm going to edit the lede to fudge this a bit. --Jfruh (talk) 03:22, 17 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
This historical reference states that Mircovich was met by a consul of Austria-Hungary, indicating his citizenship. However, it vaguely states that he was from a "section of Montenegro" without going into more detail of which city (Petrovac was Gregovich's hometown) or whether the section was simply ethnic. The description in the article has been updated again, but feel free to reword this if there is a better way to phrase this. KimChee (talk) 00:30, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Assessment edit

I think it's reached a really good point, but someone else has to re-rate it since I edited it. TY for the great teamwork here!DocOfSoc (talk) 02:17, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

What are you all doing? You are running the risk of turning this into a good article. :) KimChee (talk) 18:23, 19 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
