His personal best was 83.46m in 1990.
Not so, Yuriy Sedykh's WR of 86.74 was set four years earlier. 83.46 was only his PB, but since he represented USSR at the time, it's considered a European mark. Representing Tajikistan his best was 83.36 from 1993, the Asian record until Koji Murofushi broke it in 2003. [1][2] (his 1997 best 82.66 is perhaps NR for Uzbekistan, though I'm unsure whether or not it was set after his change of nationality).
