  • Sawm (Fast) - fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan
  • Hajj (Pilgrimage) - performing the pilgrimage to Mecca

  • Jihād (Struggle) - struggling to please God. The greater, or internal Jihad is the struggle against the evil within one's own soul in every aspect of life. The lesser, or external, Jihad is the struggle against the evil of one's environment in every aspect of life.
  • Amr-Bil-Ma'rūf (Enjoin what is good)
  • Nahi-Anil-Munkar (Forbid what is evil)
  • Tawalla (To love the Ahl al-Bayt, or people of the house, and their followers)
  • Tabarra (To disassociate from the enemies of the Ahl-ul-Bait)

How come there are 11 branches? Shahada is listed as no. 1...but isn't shahada a part of the Roots of Religion under no.1 Tawhid and no.2 Nubuwwah?. --aliasad 21:57, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Aliasad, you are right. BhaiSaab talk 23:45, 29 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Should Practices of the Religion not be Practices of the Muslim Religion, Practices of the Religion is probably better for a disambiguation (Practices of the Religion (disambiguation). 64.229.168.42 12:10, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rename? edit

This articles title is poor, since "the Religion" could mean any religion William M. Connolley (talk) 19:38, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

It should be Ancillaries of the Faith (shia) since it only concerns shia islam. --Io Herodotus (talk) 01:36, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

ten practices edit

This page should clearly show how to find 10 practices.

I modified it in that sense. Please someone check it out, I took that commentary above. --Io Herodotus (talk) 14:56, 26 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

problem with article edit

Al-Islam.org, a major Shia website, makes no mention of "Ancillaries of the Faith". It does talk about the five pillars and "principles of faith" that are unrelated to the "ancillaries" in the article.[1] --Louis P. Boog (talk) 01:19, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
