Anarchist St. Imier International → Anti-Authoritarian International – In my experience, the term "Anti-Authoritarian International" appears to be the common name for this organisation in historical sources.[1] I rarely see it referred to as the "Anarchist International", as the term "anarchist" wasn't even formally adopted by members of the organisation until after it had already collapsed (see Graham 2019, p. 339). But we do know that they referred to themselves as "anti-authoritarians", in order to distance themselves from the Marxist International. Grnrchst (talk) 11:22, 19 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - I think I've mostly seen it as "St Imier International" or similar, following St. Imier Congress, or just "the Anarchist International" (in the context of distinguishing it from the International they broke from). I think it makes the most sense to have St Imier in the name, since it's more distinctive, but I can't say I have strong feelings in any particular direction. -- asilvering (talk) 00:35, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- "St. Imier International" is a far less common name than "Anti-Authoritarian International", with each variant of the former adding up to less than half the results of the latter in Google Scholar.[2][3] (I'll also note that almost all of the results for "St. Imier/Saint-Imier International" came from after this article was created in 2005, so there maybe some citogenesis going on)
- I don't think it makes sense to include St. Imier in the title, as the International held several congresses in places other than St. Imier. As for distinction, the term "Anti-Authoritarian" is how they distinguished themselves from the Marxist international. The term "Anarchist International" is too ambiguous, as it has been used by several organisations throughout history. But it seems that "Anti-Authoritarian International" is only ever used to refer to this organisation. --Grnrchst (talk) 10:40, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
