Date formats edit

This is not a major issue, but what is the correct date format to use for this subject? If he is natively Indian, but now is a naturalised Canadian, DMY seems questionable if most Canadian outlets use MDY. @SangrurUser and Dl2000: you have both made changes to this.[1][2]. Got any thoughts? See also Date format by country. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:48, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Cyphoidbomb:Sir, isn’t it the simlar case to Akshay Kumar?SangrurUser (talk) 03:14, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@SangrurUser: Was there a discussion at Talk:Akshay Kumar that led to consensus about the matter, or did an Indian editor comfortable with their native DMY date format decide that we were going to use the same format for Akshay Kumar? Was there ever a discussion about that? If not, there should be a discussion about that. Per MOS:DATEVAR, "If an article has evolved using predominantly one date format, this format should be used throughout the article, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic or consensus on the article's talk page." Can it be reasonably argued that Amrinder Gill, who is perhaps a naturalised Canadian, has stronger ties to Canada than India? And if so, what format is appropriate? @Cyphoidbomb:I am not sure what to do as I am not much aware of much Wikipedia rules and guidelines. Well, I think you should do what's best.SangrurUser (talk) 04:53, 9 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Was merely cleaning up the article based on what seemed to be in place for several years. Most of Gill's notability, work and referencing seems to be more tied to India (MOS:DATETIES), even though he may be based in Canada where he is probably unknown outside Punjabi communities. Dl2000 (talk) 02:35, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
However, will invite @Ohconfucius: who often has further insight into such matters. Dl2000 (talk) 02:40, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Arguably, both can be used. There are a number of articles for US-naturalised Brits that remain in dmy format (and whose English is in British English), for example Christopher Hitchens and the Dirty Digger. It seems that this article was already so tagged in August 2014. IMHO, as both are equally valid claims, and as the article was more or less aligned/stabilised in one format, it would be preferable to leave the original and not move or fight over it. -- Ohc ¡digame! 16:48, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Add new edit

Dear Sir/Madam

Please add upcoming movie “Chal Mera Putt 2” on the filmography list (with denote) which is set to release in 2020. The film is already on floors. Arjun5468 (talk) 07:45, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Arjun5468: Do you have a reliable source to prove that filming has started? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:16, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Fylindfotberserk:[5]SangrurUser (talk) 14:31, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
SangrurUser, source says shooting will start from 12 November. We would need a source which says that shooting has started. Besides, the source doesn't look reliable. I was unable to find any info on editors, journalists, etc. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:49, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Fylindfotberserk:Above source is reliable as it is used as major source for all Pakistani movies. And, other link to proove is here.SangrurUser (talk) 14:54, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
SangrurUser, May be for Pakistani films, but we have clear-cut guidelines in WP:ICTF. The insta source on the other hand is from a verified source. No news from Tribune, Times of India till now? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:05, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Fylindfotberserk, Reason for no news from news channels is that, due to a lot of Pakistani actors in it most of Indian channels choose not to cover any news of the film. Even Chal Mera Putt is the one of the highest-grossing Punjabi of all time but wasn’t well covered by channels, and was reviewed by very few portals. Although, it is not fully an Indian film as the major production house Rhythm Boyz Entertainment is Canadian.SangrurUser (talk) 15:15, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
SangrurUser, The Instagram link above is a WP:SOCIALMEDIA and the subject is involved with the project, but her post doesn't mention "explicitly" that filming of "Chal Mera Puth" has started despite a simple hashtag. That'd go into WP:OR territory. I believe we should wait for a few days. What do you suggest Cyphoidbomb? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:35, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
My inclination would be to wait. One source predicts a start, the other doesn't expressly indicate that it has started. (Also, the predicted start date does not appear to coincide with the release of the prayer ceremony photos.) Could it have started? Sure, and it probably has. But content has to be verifiable, and we can't verify that it has begun from some photos with a camera in it. Those photos could have been taken solely for publicity. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:44, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:28, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Pairing puffery edit

@SangrurUser: Hi there, re: these edits, your attempts to assert that Gill and Mehta are considered one of the best pairs in Punjabi cinema is woefully undersourced, lacks sufficient context and just reeks of puffery. One article here, (which doesn't even have a reporter's name attributed to it, making it possible that it is a press release,) certainly isn't sufficient to summarise the general attitude of all critics of Punjabi films. I have removed the content. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:11, 27 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Lauching careers of people edit

@SangrurUser: Hi, this type of sentence: "Gill has developed other ventures, including Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, with manager Karaj Gill, which helped launch the careers of artists such as Gurshabad, Bir Singh, and Gurpreet Maan. would need reliable sources in support. Although you have added the website which mentions them as the artists, we would need something which explains this explicitly. We are creating WP:OR here. I hope you understand. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:47, 1 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@SangrurUser: Hi, have you looked into the matter? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:43, 5 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Fylindfotberserk:Yes, but I am unable to find any other reliable source.SangrurUser (talk) 11:06, 5 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
