SIA, not a dab, per WP:DABCONCEPT edit

@Muhandes: These do not appear to be unrelated topics, which makes this a topic for a set index article, not a disambiguation page - see WP:SIA. The organization itself asserts on its webpage, http://www.amity.edu/india/, that it has ten campuses, including those listed on this page. If this is a fraudulent misrepresentation, it will be very embarrassing for Amity. If not, then these can not be claimed as ambiguous topics. bd2412 T 20:40, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

@BD2412: I did some research about this when I added some of these articles. "Amity University" does not exist per se. There is a registered society called "Amity Education Group", or sometimes simply "Amity", which is the sponsoring body of these private universities, but each of the universities is autonomous, established and governed by a separate state legislative act. They are each individually notified in the respective gazettes, approved separately by the UGC and listed separately by the UGC, NAAC, AICTE etc. In fact, per UGC regulations, in India a private university cannot have campuses outside the state in which it is registered.
Now, why does this society represent (or brand) itself as "Amity University" and why it represents autonomous institutes as "campuses" is something I can only speculated about, but I'm not sure it is a unique case in India. What I can say is that having an article called "Amity University" is misrepresentative and possibly misleading as these should in most cases be disambiguated to the actual relevant institute, as following the links which I managed to disambiguate shows. Perhaps a solution is to create an article called "Amity Education Group" (or "Amity (education group)"), and add it to the dab list as another possible target for the branding of this society, which should be used when the society is referred to. I thought about doing this but I'm not sure what to write about it. What I am certain of is that this society cannot grant degrees and it doesn't have any official academic standing, so it is not the correct target of many of the links to Amity University, and these should be properly disambiguated. The most likely target is Amity University, Noida, but it is uncertain. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 21:32, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your thorough explanation of the situation. In that case, I agree that there should be an article on Amity Education Group, with some information on how these institutions are affiliated with it. It is indeed very unusual for such entities to share both the name and affiliation of an umbrella group, while remaining effectively unrelated in their operations. I will remove the Dabconcept tag, unless further research reveals some other level of connection. Cheers! bd2412 T 21:47, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
