Merge Amish music

Neutral Point of View Violation?

This article doesn't seem to respect the neutral point of view requirement. Statements such as "loneliness is not a problem" or "disobedience is rare" betray a point of view, and would require sources other than the Amish Society's own literature, which can be expected to take a pro-Amish stance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.206.69.133 (talk) 01:42, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

I agree. This whole article sounds like it was written from an Amish pamphlet. There are obvious incongruencies like, "Everyone is treated equally" and in the next paragraph, "and man is the head of woman". Technology

I was expecting to find a section on technology. I understand that many Amish groups refrain from adopting it, but I've also heard of some groups reluctantly accepting cell phone use. Farming? Medical?

Why no section on farming which is their biggest way of life? And how they practice organic farming and do not use medicines or vitamins on their animals. Is Amish a religion or a lifestyle?

Amish life in the modern world merge into Amish way of life

Amish life in the modern world is not a NPOV title, Amish way of life is better, so the former should be merged into the latter.--Darrelljon (talk) 16:16, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

Agreed that Amish life in the modern world isn't written or titled with NPOV. However the text of Amish way of life isn't much better. I think actually both could be merged into Amish, which already has a Way of life section that could be expanded upon. [[ Mozby (talk) 20:27, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

Support the original proposal to merge Amish life in the modern world into Amish way of life due to overlap. The alternative proposal would make Amish too large. Issues with page

Did someone give the Amish a computer to write this? Clearly not WP:NPOV

• There are several more controversial parts of the Amish way of life and these are not mentioned. In fact, it seems to go out of its way to emphasize how good their way of life is.
• The relations with non-Amish section is very one-sided, showing only how others treat them and not how they treat others
  • I am not very knowledgeable on outsider's treatment of the Amish so I won't weigh on in that but better sources are needed to prove it. For example, it is stated that Kidnapping by non-Amish is also a common crime against Amish youth. this could very well be the case but the references are just two articles (one only 3 sentences) reporting on Amish girls being kidnapped without discussing of prevalence. You can make any group seem discriminated against if the only proof needed is that it's happened a few times.
