Style of architecture

Is the subject of the article a style of architecture or a method? Sounds like the latter. If it is a style, maybe it should be noted Architecture of Chicago#Styles and schools. Pknkly (talk) 17:03, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Home types

Okay, so the bungalow is quite often referred to as type B1 (when it's not called Cottage B), and the one on the corner is a C3. But the duplexes seem to be called both 7A and F (my info mostly from www.wrightinmilwaukee.com). Waltloc's info includes the fact that the one mirror image duplex is a model F, to the other three model Cs. How can the duplexes share the letter C with the C3 bungalow? Storrer's books refer to the B1 C3 as "Cottage B". I think www.wrightinmilwaukee.com has a typo in it. It calls all of the duplexes (2720-34) "Model C" on "The Homes" nav bar, but the individual pages are all titled "Model F". Storrer numbers the mirror image last of the 4, so makes sense that one might be an "F" and the rest "C". On the other hand, I might be completely wrong. I think the best explanation is here [1] - "Wright liked to give his houses descriptive names, for example La Miniatura (pp. 62-63), but the System-Built Houses bear perfunctory labels, such as D101." You will see ASBH's with designations such as J902, A101, etc. I wonder if anyone really knows what they all mean. --Waltloc (talk) 19:22, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I saw that typo on the pulldown menu - since one of the bungalows is a model C, I think it's safe to assume that C is wrong for the duplexes, but what about the discrepancy between 7a and F? All the rest seem to begin with letters, and have number suffixes. I wonder if it's possible to view the archives. "Hi. Article name

I called the article "American System-Built Homes" because that was the most common name among all the references I've found. All of the Chicago articles call them "System-Built Houses". Does anyone have a reference showing the official name for the projects? There are a lot of articles linking through the redirect for the "houses" name, and I'd like to fix that, if we're sure this is the official name. Also, I think that it should be "System-built" (lower case b), according to the rules of grammar. Thoughts? -Freekee (talk) 22:17, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

It is very common to see the same FLW building referred to as "home", "house" and "residence". In this case, Storrer says ""American System-Built Homes" [2]. I have also changed Template:Chicago Landmark houses to point to "homes". --Waltloc (talk) 12:01, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
