Major expansion coming soon edit

I plan to post a major overhaul and expansion of this article in the near future. Because the history of the AERA is essentially the history of the split in the women's movement during that period, it is a contentious subject. I tried to handle that partly by letting the participants speak for themselves via actual quotes rather than attempting to paraphrase someone else's paraphrasing of what they said. I also felt it was important to provide the historical context, although that does make the article longer. I believe I have presented the scholarly consensus on this topic as far as that is possible, but I will temporarily place a draft of the proposed revision in my sandbox in case anyone has objections, suggestions, etc., before I officially post it.

On a technical note, I changed all citations that reference Buhle The Concise History of Woman Suffrage to the actual History of Woman Suffrage itself. The Concise History, a greatly condensed version of the original, was an important aid to scholarship at a time when few people had access to (or the time and patience to search through) the six-volume History of Woman Suffrage. Now that all six of its volumes are fully available on the web and easily accessed via search tools, however, it is best to cite the original source and provide links directly to the pages cited.--Bilpen (talk) 22:52, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
