Proposed split

The article as it stands at present is an overly long introduction to a list that dominates the page. The best way I think to remedy this is to restructure the present introduction to be the prose-based article about the topic of alternate histories that diverge at the American Civil War, with the list of examples spun off as a separate list article that can have better formatting and clearer inclusion criteria. Hey, guest here having watched Wikipedia I have added some new Civil War alternate history novels such as Shattered Nation trilogy, Billy Bennett's Civil War alternate history novels, Stonewall Goes West/Mother Earth, Bloody Ground, Southern Cross: Anne Coeptis , Confederate Star Rising, Elseworlds: Superman: A House Divided, What If: Captain America Vol 1 1, If the South Had Been Allowed to Go and Hallie Marshall: A True Daughter of the South (both of which are the earliest Civil War alternate histories) at this point with the Civil War alternate histories getting bigger I agree that we should create an article off this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:A451:8F00:9AA:EAF1:5D73:69EE (talk) 18:17, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

• Comment I like the idea of the section above (from 5 years ago) about a split, where this article would be the overview, and the other would be the list of examples. Right now on this one, there's an interesting section about the various scenarios, but alas, it is completely OR, unsourced. Barring that, then I support the merge. This is not alternate history

"Hallie Marshall: A True Daughter of the South (1900) by Frank Williams" is lost cause propaganda peddled as alternate history, and shouldn't be promoted by wikipedia. 46.97.170.32 (talk) 09:22, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
