@Wocea: Any idea if Stenberg wants the non-binary identity kept off wikipedia? It's covered by enough sources to include, but could reasonably be excluded given that it's not super widely sourced. This doesn't seem anything new? It still seems to end with "please keep it she/her up there for now" with the idea of "hoping it would stay within the tumblr realm for now." It's a bit of an odd situation compared to the more standard pronoun changes we've seen in the past. Let's just wait it out and see what happens: there is no deadline and Stenberg clearly doesn't mind the feminine pronoun-usage here. ~Mable (chat) 06:34, 4 May 2016 (UTC)

The previous discussion about pronouns was in 2016. It seems sources are now regularly using they/them, and often mentioning explicitly that Stenberg prefers they/them pronouns.

I'm not convinced, but I'm not totally opposed, either. The quotation from the interview that forms the basis of the first three links you provided (I'm comfortable with using the pronouns 'they' or 'them' alongside 'she' and 'her' just because that's a conversation that's important to me.) does not indicate a preference, which makes me think that Stenberg's thinking may have changed since the 2016 tumblr post (They/them it is.). However, all five of those sources do use they/them when referring to Stenberg, which does seem to render the "for now" part of the second 2016 tumblr post (please keep it she/her up there for now.) no longer applicable. -- irn (talk) 17:37, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

Changes to Personal Life section

I agree with Drmies about the Kylie Jenner feud being removed. Lacks lasting notability (WP:NOTNEWS). I'd like to see the charity work stuff added back, but feel it needs better sources lest it be too promotional. I tried to get better sources in addition to self-published ones regarding her identity. Will keep looking to add to it. Did find something about a comic she was making. Amandla means power and it was used as a chant during the South African Apartheid times by the black people to show that they were not afraid of the white people and were not going to back down on a fight for freedom. Amandla's heritage fix request June 26, 2018

Amandla is not Jewish. This was erroneously added due to a single mistaken source - The Root in 2012. She's been interviewed and profiled numerous times and has never claimed to be Jewish because she is in fact not Jewish. Stenberg is a Swedish name. Pronouns

Editor.angel23, the most recent article we can find where Amandla talks about her pronouns it says, But Stenberg realized that she “didn’t need those pronouns to feel comfortable. . . . And it felt almost detrimental to those who really did need them.” (For the record, she’s good with “she” and “her.”) (x). I haven't been able to find anything more recent where she's said any different. Basically, she's said that she doesn't feel the need to use just they/them to feel 'more non-binary'. Stenberg co-wrote the comic book Niobe: She is Life with Sebastian Jones. The book is an offshoot Jone's graphic novel The Untamed.[1] It is set in a fantasy world and follows the journey a half elf half human princess.[2] According to Jones its the first nationally distributed comic that has a black woman as the protagonist while also having a black woman as the author and another as the artist.[3] Jones wanted her help in creating the comic because it revolved around a young female character.[4] The first issue, illustrated by Ashley A. The only concern I have is that the YouTube video may not be a proper reliable source per Wikipedia guidelines, but it's not used to cite anything dubious, controversial, or opinionated, so I'm sure it's fine. You can copy this paragraph to this article if you like, replacing the short currently existing paragraph about the comic. Be sure to copy in the source code, and not the raw front-end text like you did above. Amandla uses both they and she pronouns. She has stated this publicly and this is stated and there are reliable sources in the personal life section of her page. She dresses femininely and presents herself like a young woman and also most people know her for her most famous roles which her all girls or young women like Rue (The Hunger Games), Starr Carter (The Hate U Give), and Maddy (Everything, Everything). The page also lists her as an actress and the word "she" is used at the beginning of the article and then suddenly it changes to addressing Amandla as "they."

Basically, it would be best to address Amandla using "she" pronouns. Not only does she use these pronouns but she presents as a woman and the vast majority of people that know her know her for her roles as women, particuarly as Rue in The Hunger Games and Starr in The Hate U Give. Sexuality and Gender Inconsistency

It is my understanding that the category of "gay" refers to men who have sex mostly with men. This would not apply strictly to the subject as they do not identify as a man. So, I would suggest that the identification of them as "gay" be removed because it does not actually describe their sexual orientation, but is more of a subcultural affiliation or slang term for LGBTQ people at large. Basically, someone cannot be simultaneously bisexual, pansexual, nonbinary, and """gay""" per se at once, so we should choose whether to state explicitly that "gay" is a self-descriptor, remove description of Amandla as gay, or revise the established fact that they identify as nonbinary and pansexual.

Amandla Stenberg's pronouns

In the latest articles i've read, it was stated that Amandla Stenberg uses they/them pronouns. If someone could change every she/her pronouns with they/them pronouns, it would be very cool. Also change every gendered pronoun by a neutral alternative or use the inclusive dot. Also, if you've seen an even mor recent article that says they use both they/them and she/her pronouns, remember to use they/them pronouns from time to time, at best 50% they/them 50% she/her. Otherwise it would be considered as non-binary erasure and transphobic towards Amandla Stenberg. Although Amandla does identify as non-binary, she has specifically said that she doesn't want her Wikipedia page's pronouns to change from "she" pronouns to "they" pronouns as she's known for being an actress. Also, less important but still important, the public knows her for her roles as women and as an actress. Could OP please link the most recently article that you've read? A lot of Amandla's interviews are 2-4 years old at this point. change the pronouns please!!

hey i'd like to change the pronouns on their wiki from she/her to they/them because it felt like erasure and laziness that they hadn't been changed despite the fact that they came out as non binary. as someone who uses she/they pronouns, i know how annoying it is when people don't use your pronouns properly and it pissed me off that they were all she/her for "consistency". i don't mean any harm i'd just like to change them all to they/them instead if we're selecting to only use one set of her pronouns for "consistency". i feel like that would be less of an erasure of their identity. just asking for permission so i can edit the wiki uwu. thanks!!

amandla stenberg said themselves that they prefer they/them pronouns. the comment about she/her pronouns being used exclusively was made in goddamn 2016. it's been SIX YEARS. it's honestly ridiculous that you would try to accuse me of vandalism/ falsifying information when it's literally one quick google search away to see that they very clearly prefer they/them pronouns. it's disrespectful that you repeatedly remove simple changes and make the pronouns binary under the guise of "consistency" when it's literally so easy to be both consistent and respect their pronouns.

Categories which may be outdated or misgendering

Stenberg's currently in a couple actress and female categories which seem probably wrong, given they're non=binary. I'm not sure of the policy here or etiquette though.Mcc1789 (talk) 19:35, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

Bad grammar

All of the third person pronouns are third person plural (they, them, their) when they should be third person single (she, her). I don't care that Amanda Stenberg thinks of herself as royalty and therefore worthy of the plural pronouns as if she were a queen.

Sexuality

She's most recently described herself as "gay" from what I can see in the citations. Wouldn't that supersede the references to being either bisexual or pansexual?
