Name edit

I know officially it is the Delta sign, but everyone calls them "Alt-J"... So it should be Alt-J all the way through. 92.19.51.72 (talk) 16:54, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

TV Music edit

Is it worth adding a TV Music section? Fitzpleasure was used in Suits Season 2 Ep 6. http://blog.allmusiclyrics.info/2012/07/suits-s02e06-song-list-soundtrack-all-in.html#.UJ5yeIa-aSo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andypolack (talkcontribs) 15:30, 10 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

name edit

Is the story about the band name being taken from the key combo alt+j correct? In fact, there is no alt key in OS X. Macs have always instead had the option key (which does bear a subtitle of "alt" on various models), and pressing ⌥ Option+j does result in a ∆. What about the bit about the Alt+J combination opening Windows Media Player? I've tried in Windows XP, 7, and 8. It didn't work in any of them. If it's even true for any version of Windows, it should specify which. 84.227.242.199 (talk) 23:00, 16 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
There is an 'alt' key on the mac. It says it above 'option'. Immablowup (talk)

the story about the ∆ thing is correct.

i would also like to say, their name is spelt alt-J not Alt-J when i see their name, its spelt like that on youtube and on their album, which i have, so i dunno if we should do something about that or what.violetcries (talk) 1 August, 2013 (UTC)

Leeds University edit

A couple of editors have recently changed the place where they met from Leeds University to Leeds Metropolitan University. I am no expert but if this change were to be made it would surely need a reliable reference. For now, I have referenced Leeds, not Leeds Met, with a Facts and Figures page which mentions them, as do a number of other Leeds pages. In fact, it is quite interesting to compare an "alt-j" Google search on Leeds, such as "alt-j"+site:www.leeds.ac.uk with one on Leeds Met like: "alt-j" site:www.leedsmet.ac.uk - Leeds makes plenty of mention of them and Leeds Met none. Surely if they were Leeds Met alumni, the site would mention it once, somewhere? But I'd be very happy to see more reliable sources for this, either way. Okay then edit

This isn't "eccentric typography". Their name is written alt-J, not Alt-J. A lot of brands and stuff also do that, for example iOS/eBay. So why can't alt-J be written the right way? WLM / ? 16:50, 28 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please do whatever you like. DBaK (talk) 21:36, 28 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Tourdates edit

The page listed a large number of tourdates and festival performances. While interesting they did appear too much like a list without a great deal of context. Also, the band has played a further set of dates since the release of their second album. Karst (talk) 09:57, 30 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lowercase in the band name edit

I'm not sure that we should keep alt-J instead of Alt-J in the article name and everywhere. The lowercase a contradicts MoS. Therefore we should substitute all the alt-j for the name with the capital A. Among many other examples of the same case there are Thirtysomething and the good article Blink-182 (with an old talk about it). --Almicione (talk) 20:05, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Popular Culture? edit

The song arrival in nara plays at the end credits of the netflix movie "The Discovery", should this be added?Ametrocavich (talk) 20:20, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ametrocavich This seems like it would qualify for being added to the Pop Culture section. LaRaspberryJam (talk) 22:01, 15 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

This section as a whole should be considered for revising given dates are out of sequence and there is a duplicate entry for "Left Hand Free" featured in Captain America: Civil War. I do not know how to flag this for editing. LaRaspberryJam (talk) 22:01, 15 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Stylized edit

Re: "That is not a discussion for but at the Amereican British English spelling page. Reach consensus there first please."

@Karst: Come again? I don't need to reach a consensus in some other area of Wikipedia to make a simple edit here. An IP user swapped stylized for stylised [1] for whatever reason and I reverted it on the grounds that whether this article uses British English or American English stylized was already correct. I think you should put it back how it was. nagualdesign 21:11, 6 August 2017 (UTC) ...Sorry, I probably should have left the automatic edit summary in place to avoid any confusion; that the IP made a Bold edit, which I Reverted, so the next step was Discussion (in which the IP would present their case). I'll bear that in mind in future. nagualdesign 21:25, 6 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Gwil Sainsbury's age edit

There's no way Gwil is 55, as this article says (Gwilym Sainsbury – born June 1965 (age 55)). --Biorazvr (talk) 15:49, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Well spotted. He's 32, I copied in the wrong year of birth. It's been fixed. 82.16.219.36 (talk) 22:24, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pitchfork ratings edit

At what point are we allowed to walk away from Pitchfork? I mean, it was important for about a decade. Maybe stop acting like it's the last word in contemporary alternative/indie despite sales?

Yeah the pitchfork rating for each album is not necessary. How about a metascore instead or critical reception from multiple sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.226.113.0 (talk) 02:42, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
