>Personally, I own 5 Alpas (2 11si, 2 11el, and 1 9d) I also have a working magazine back and motor drive. I also have the following lenses: 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm f1.8, 45-100mm Schnieder, 80-240mm Schnieder. I have held an si2000 in my hands, and have a manual for it (along with the 4,5,6,7,8,9,10, and 11) I also have permission from the current copyright holder to distribute scanned copies of said manuals.

>Did Capaul & Weber end up with the copyrights? YES

>Do you think we should expand this topic to discuss specific bodies and lenses?

I thought it appropriate to list what I have here. Maybe a seperate sub heading? Certainly a warning about counterfeits might be appropriate. And something about the Gold bodies?

I have now added a series of photos to the main page. I have several more photos to add. 1. 11si chrome, 11si black, with 28mm and 24mm lenses. 2. 50 1.8 Macro Switar 6. 45-100mm and 80-240mm Schnieder zooms. I will add these as I scan them and make them ready.

>A couple of my bodies don't overlap with yours, (11e and 11a) and I have several lenses that aren't on your list including the PA Curtagon, the automatic Kinoptiks, and some longer lenses.

Well, one of my 11el is a hybrid. It is an 11el, with an 11e meter in it, and that's the one I have mounted on the magazine back.... I used a 6c as a backup for a short time, while my 9d was in the shop.

>>As for adapters rings, I have: M42 manual and Auto, Nikon auto (manual was made), T-mount, and microscope adapter. I also have a mount for Alpa lenses to C-mount cameras.

>Others I have include alprac, leialp39, Alplei, and a couple obscure ones for lens systems. I also have 3 variations of the combextan bellows, and a macrostat.

I have a bellows. Had to have Mr Ghanda (of Karl Hietz Inc) chase down real Alpa mounts for it. Dam thing had some other mounts on it when I got it!

And finally: I have one of the Alpa Tie Bars! (Plus a couple of extra unattached Alpa shields that I have meant to have made into a tie tac and cuff links.

Minor updates edit

One update that should be done is to distinguish between the early small bayonet of the "standard" and the combined SLR\rangefinder bodies versus the later large bayonet. If I get time, I will provide photos.

Another might be to refer to Alpa in connection with Paillard, Kern and Alos since those are related Swiss companies (Paillard having some roots in common since Bogopolsky designed the "Bol", Kern delivering the optics and mounts of the Switars -except for the last ones , and Alos for using Alpa bodies in telephone counter cameras ). Again,if I get time for it I will provide some photos.

I've corrected the information regarding the Japanese Alpa cameras to reflect whats shown in the Thewes book.

For those who are interested, a reason Karl Heitz may not have acknowledged the Japanese Alpa is it was introduced around the time Pignons took away his distributorship in favor of The Alpa Group (TAG) Even after TAG folded, relations between Pignons and Karl Heitz were rocky for a while. In 1980, I had to order accessories direct from Switzerland because KH couldn't get them.

Better photo examples? edit

I've seen some fantastic pictures taken with the new Alpas, like this one [1] - couldn't we add some better pictures to the articles, the current ones are pretty mediocre. Peter S. 14:38, 21 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is a discussion about the 35mm Alpas, you want to add stuff about the new Medium format, and that is a whole nother section. Said photos would not replace what is here, as these photos that are here are meant to show the 35mm gear, and examples of photos with them.

As for the photos being mediocre, I beg to differ. The one shuttle shot was optioned for printing by a national magazine - which mediocre shots don't have happen to them. (anonymous edit by 71.41.111.22)

Well, the first one is extremely blurry, especially motion blur, and the second one we can see the film grain, making it blurry as well. Congrats for getting them into magazines, getting these into a mag is one heck of a job! :-) Peter S. 23:56, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

What a prat you are Peter. Where can we see your night images captured on film, of a moving subject, made with a 2000mm lens? Show us how much sharper they are please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.231.176.200 (talk) 04:32, 7 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
