Same species as Aloe maculata? edit

After writing this up, I realized that some authorities believe A. maculata is the older name for A. saponaria, but it appears that (at least in North America) A. saponaria is the generally accepted name -- see, for example, Aloe saponaria at "Aloes of the Huntington Gardens", and the plant tag at bottom left of File:Aloe saponaria 2.jpg.

If there's an aloe expert in the audience, perhaps he/she could provide some help on the proper name, and whether the two articles should be merged. Aloe maculata is just a stub at this point. FWIW, Commons treats A. maculata as the senior name -- see Commons:Category:Aloe maculata. --Pete Tillman (talk) 20:42, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
