what are observer states?

Presumably entities which are not elegible for full membership, since they're territories administered by another country, not independent countries of their own... AnonMoos (talk) 13:22, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • "Observer" tends to mean that a entity isn't a full member, however they may sit-in or take-part in one or two boards/forums within the overall organisation but not par-taking in much else of the same organisation. CaribDigita (talk) 02:36, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

resource regarding Sea level rise and global warming-related climate change, and Pacific Small Island Developing States edit

A Sinking Feeling; Why is the president of the tiny Pacific island nation of Nauru so concerned about climate change? by Marcus Stephen, the President of Nauru, November 14 & November 28, 2011 in The New York Times Upfront, excerpt ...

In 2008 and 2009, respectively, people in nearby Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands were forced to flee their homes to escape record tides. The low-lying nations of Tuvalu, Kiribati, and the Marshall Islands may vanish entirely within our grandchildren’s lifetimes.” Similar climate stories are playing out on nearly every continent, where a steady onslaught of droughts, floods, and heat waves—which some scientists expect will become even more frequent and intense with climate change—have displaced millions of people and led to widespread food shortages.

Cedric Schuster edit

Cedric Schuster of Samoa announced AOSIS' (very disappointed) view of the 2023 UN climate summit COP28. The AOSIS transcript lists him as AOSIS' chair, but he's not listed here as one of the 14 people who have chaired AOSIS. I think this may be just something that just needs updating, since the another Samoan, Dr Pa’olelei Luteru, is listed as Chair for the a 2022-23 term. —— Shakescene (talk) 07:43, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
