Effective blanking of article edit

User:My Lord has gutted the article removing substantial content without any discussion. I rolled back the changes but he has reverted. There needs to be discussion about content removal on the talk page. Paul foord (talk) 23:11, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Whilst the article lacks independent reliable sources given the claims of date formed and influence (that is Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)) the question of organisation notability would best be dealt with by referral to the relevant WikiProjects or nomination for deletion rather than gutting. Noted at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indian politics#All India Students Federation. Paul foord (talk) 23:29, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
As far as I know, Wikipedia grants me permission to delete unsourced content. While the article had the only 1 source which was a personal blog. I deleted that blog and added the actual website of AISF for the date of origin of AISF. I don't know whether you are aware of Indian Politics or not but if you are then the article looks like written by a fan, The claims like AISF was the first Indian organization of students which worked for the independence of India. is totally false. The article is full of these types of false claims. That article deserves deletion but due to its notability, it can't. So @Paul foord: It is my request to you to work on that article and rewrite that whole article. My Lord (talk) 04:39, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
It clearly needs substantial gutting, if not WP:TNT. Given the lack of sources, it is difficult to know how much, if any, of the article is worth saving.
WP:BURDEN clearly states "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." - The bold is in the policy, not my addition, but this clearly includes re-instatement of unsourced material. Please note this is part of Wikipedia:Verifiability, which is a Policy, not just a guideline
I have tagged the unsourced sections, although as the one "reference" is to a Wordpress article (which is self-published, so not a WP:RS), that needs to be removed, leaving the article unreferenced. Although minimalist, and including a non-independent reference, I feel the reduced version is better than retaining an article including clear errors and self promotion. - Arjayay (talk) 09:18, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the article history, this version, whilst still unsourced appears to be the most recent version without all the padding. Paul foord (talk) 00:22, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I am not in a position to work on the article and have reverted to the stub. Paul foord (talk) 00:29, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
It's very unfortunate that whole article was blanked by some user, wikipedia should be careful allowing such activity on any page, AISF is still a nationwide students organization, many indian Politicians, prominent leaders have worked within AISF during their youth, Communist stalwart Ardhendu Bhushan Bardhan, Atul Kumar Anjan, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was once a member of AISF, it's verifiable info, google search can give many authentic news references. In 2016, After Kanhaiya Kumar, AISF leader & former president of JNUSU was shot into limelight by media, google search for AISF has been on rise, In my opinion blanking of such article is very unfortunate thing. As far as I know, left organizations in india has always been lazy publishing their material online and it's a trend which is gradually changing. This is the reason why verifying the material once posted on page was difficult because it needs some serious online digging. I have found some authentic references, research papers, references from various books published on indian student movement which can be considered as reliable source of information. The claim of AISF being the first students organization which worked for the indian independence is not completely false, there were many small students group before but AISF succeeded bringing many such groups together and became one banner in 1936. In this regard AISF becomes the first nationwide students body. I request wikipedia to take it seriously and I expect wikipedia not to allow complete blanking of any article in near future. Also please let me know how can I help rewriting this article with the sources i have found online? ViraajD (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 11:42, 9 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
