Tatar?

Is she Tatar? She's in the category of Tatars. I always thought she was Uzbek?

She was born in Tashkent but she's not ethnically Uzbek (I live in Kyrgyzstan so I have at least some authority in Uzbek-spotting ;)). Her page at the Russian Wikipedia doesn't mention her ethnicity. However, a Google search suggests she is indeed Tatar. -- Hux 21:10, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Now with the present developments (see Vladimir Putin), this is going to be debated: her father is Tatar, her mother is ethnic Russian. Which means that at birth she was probably "marked" as Russian. I was unable to find any self-identification, but she did choose to get elected from Kazan' (though of course, there are a lot of ethnic Russians living there), so I think "Tatar" is acceptable, though "ethnic Russian" also is. --Paul Pieniezny (talk) 08:55, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Pravda plagiarism

As I was doing some research I found this English language article from Pravda, which borrows a whole paragraph from this article without any citation. Joshdboz (talk) 18:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Just naughty, if that is what happened. I am afraid it may really be the other way around, since most English articles on Pravda are translations from Russian. The paragraph here may be a copy right violation! Have a look at the end of the article, it says "Translated by Dmitry Sudakov". I went to the Russian side of Pravda, and searched on Kabayeva, but was unable to get the Russian version of that article. For what it's worth, the edits to the article were made by user:CheeseLover in August 2005, whereas the Pravda article is dated with January 2008. The text itself is somewhat poor English and is likely to be a translation from some unknown source. --Illythr (talk) 14:30, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Just A Lot of Rumors

So it's pretty clear from a basic Google search that Alina is Putin's mistress/girlfriend/baby mama. The consistecy of the rumor mongering back to 2008 makes it clear that this is more than run of the mill TMZ stuff, and more a matter of press freedoms in Russia. Hi @Agulani: The source is dead for me: when I try to open it, I get a security warning and it then takes me to the website's home page; I'm not sure how it wouldn't also be dead for you? Anyway, I have since found this archive link to see the previous content and you're right that it does not specify that she is a Christian. Sorry for the faff! Multi-billion dollar corruption

The investigation by the Insider team says that Putin's unrecognized wife is a multimillionaire, and the main cash receipts for her accounts ( (the so-called charitable funds) come from Putin's entourage. Minor issue

In the political & media section, National Media Group is mentioned in first paragraph and supposedly linked but the link comes back to this article - that is, there is no link to National Media Group. If you search Wikipedia for National Media Group you are re-directed to this article. Given the fact that it is the largest media conglomerate in Putin's Russia, it should have its own article. Although that may be difficult given it's state controlled and the activities of Russian governments hackers. It probably should be mentioned that rhythmic gymnastics is a mostly subjective "sport" and that because of her status as Putin's gf, any wins in Russian venues as well as Russian honors (post-2004) should be viewed as undoubtedly having been politically influenced.174.131.48.89 (talk) 11:14, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
