Ad Campaign edit

Alibris had an interesting ad campaign in the 90s and early 2000s. I'd like to see some reference to this, especially to the books that were listed as being classics from our childhood but which we'd long lost. Any ideas or leads? Interlingua 20:13, 7 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cut from article edit

Please let the customer beware that Alibris does not offer a customer service contact phone number to a live person, they only offer an email customer service option which is not always responsive in addressing and correcting customer complaints. As a result the customer may be left holding the bag without the ability to contact a live person at Alibris for help.

Uncited and unencyclopedic. We're not a consumer guide or a how-to. If someone can come up with a cited way to add comparable information, and write it in an encyclopedic style, I have no problem with touching on the topic of how Alibris does customer service. (Full disclosure: Anittas pointed out this passage to me in an email.) - Jmabel | Talk 16:26, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Questionable major edit edit

This major, anonymous edit, summarized only as "Update data; added section on history and ownership" looks to me like astroturfing. It seems to be a rewrite to how the company presents itself, dropping everything that is not part of their self-presentation. (It's not a "whitewash"—it's not like there was anything negative to begin with—but it does look like "positioning".) Among the statements dropped was that "the Alibris-owned inventory is less than 2% of their total inventory".

Neither version has decent citation, so I'm not wading into this any further, but if someone decides to work on this article I suggest that you look at the version prior to that edit as well as the current version. - Jmabel | Talk 21:43, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've given up on that article. Some years ago, I used to buy books from them; that made me decide to start the article. I don't know much about the site and I don't find it worthy of my time to start researching on it. And of course, I never expected an article about a book retailed to become so controversial as it sometimes have been. --Thus Spake Anittas 21:50, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

Alibris is not notable if you think the only booksellers worth mentioning are Amazon, Walmart, and B&N. Removing this entry would reek of bias. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:806:8280:ABD0:C9F2:BBEF:6EB8:ECC2 (talk) 18:46, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Alibris is a scam edit

Their page does not function, and does not fulfill order. Strongly suspicious they are simply scamming you your money, use it on creating interrest, then "refound". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.63.24.132 (talk) 20:31, 17 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
