Notable people edit

Hi Bmcln1. Regarding this edit ("Higgins and Eardley need Wikipages before adding"), the standard for inclusion in such a list is that someone is notable, not that there is a Wikipedia article about them. It seems to me that Higgins is notable - hence why I added him. See WP:CSC on this. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:29, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Not so, see lists for other towns. If you have such referenced information you can make a "stub" page for the person and bob's your uncle. Won't take you long. Entries under Notable People should not be short biographies, just one-liners with name (dates), occupation, local connection, wikilinked to the appropriate page. Other information on a person with no Wikipage could appear in a History or Heritage or whatever section if it's relevant to the town's history. Standardization may seem boring, but it's a big help to users. Bmcln1 (talk) 08:23, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
But WP:CSC states: "Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the listed group, and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future". Cordless Larry (talk) 08:30, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, OK, put him up as a red link when you've started preparing the article on the person, then, or you know someone else has. The watchmaker sounds an interesting bloke and notability can be shown. Bmcln1 (talk) 08:55, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've re-added Higgins as a red link. Eardley Norton sounds interesting but some research will need to be done on him - taking care to differentiate from Eardley Norton. Cordless Larry (talk) 05:24, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, and I look forward to learning more about Higgins in due course. Cheers, Brian Bmcln1 (talk) 09:20, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
