Notability issues, conflict of interest, etc edit

I have just removed the following tags:

  • It needs sources or references that appear in third-party publications.
These have now been provided.
  • The notability of this article's subject is in question. If notability cannot be established, it may be listed for deletion.
The subject is notable as the Music Director of two German opera houses, and a conductor with several other leading opera houses. He has had multiple coverage in the German and Austrian press, and was the subject of a documentary for Vienna television.
  • It may have been edited by a person who has a conflict of interest with the subject matter.
There is absolutely no basis for assuming this. This article was started as a translation from the article in the German Wikipedia [1] by another editor. I had cleaned it up and added {{Unreferenced}} several months ago when it came up on User:AlexNewArtBot/OperaSearchResult which I monitor daily for WikiProject Opera. When it came up again on my watchlist, I decided to address the issues myself.

Relationship to Billy Joel edit

"Alexander Joel is the grandson of Karl Amson Joel and the half brother of singer/songwriter Billy Joel.[3] The relationship only came to light when Austrian film-maker Beate Thalberg was doing research for a documentary about Alexander Joel for a Vienna television station.[4]" That's wrong. At "An Evening Of Questions And Answers" in Nuremberg 1995 Billy Joel introduced his father and "my brother Alex Joel". Of course, I cannot put this information in the article since I was there and so I'm a first-hand witness. But perhaps a wrong statement also shouldn't be in the article ... 88.65.104.221 (talk) 23:18, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I removed the sentence. This Newsday article confirms that Alex appeared at a master class Billy held in Nuremberg in the 1990s. The Austrian documentary is from 2001. The claim that only the filmmaker uncovered that they are brothers is absurd. What she did was bring them together with the unapologetic Neckermann grandchildren. --88.73.138.65 (talk) 02:00, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Billy Joel was on the Howard Stern Radio Show on Sirius Radio on 10/20/10 and confirmed that his half brother is Alexander Joel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.218.161.99 (talk) 18:01, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
