Could someone please explain why my self-written article on Alesis Quadrasynth keeps getting deleted. They state the reason is "blatant advertising". But there is no advertising in the article. It only describes the synthesizer, its functions, and sound characteristics. Please explain what in my article qualifies as "blatant advertising". Please explain before deleting the article. Thank you.

The tone of the article set off a lot of people's spam radar. I've looked it over more thoroughly and I think the article may be fine, but still needs some rewriting. However, I am not familiar with the product and as such I have doubts about its notability, which is generally required for an article on a product. In particular, the article should assert notability and have reliable sources to back it up. Please note that notability is not necessarily "popularity" or even "fame". If it has been the subject of independent secondary sources (like a non-advertising review of the product in a major publication of the field), then it should be notable. Further, if it has won any awards or gained public attention in the media somehow, that will also generally establish notability. At least one line should be in the article to "assert" notability. I have done a bit of rewriting (needs more) and tagged it as unreferenced (per WP:RS) and for proposed deletion for no notability assertion and lack of encyclopedic tone. PROD gives you 5 days to improve the article. Since this has been speedily deleted twice, please do not just remove the PROD without addressing the concerns as this will likely have the article end up in Articles for Deletion. Thanks. Hello Cquan, thanks for all your help and for not instantly deleting this article.

I am still very confused about this concept of "Notability". I don't quite understand it. I even went to the reference page for Notability and read the whole thing. It seems to be saying that things/concepts that don't have any "significance" should not be in Wikipedia. Is that right? How is the Quadrasynth not a significant item? It was (and still is) a very popular synthesizer. Am I supposed to put up references, and if so, what are they? Links to other sites? I am confused. I am not a Wikipedia expert, so I feel I've gotten myself into a very complicated mess just by wanting to include information about this item. There are tons of other synthesizer articles in here, is there something wrong with my style of writing? This is an original piece that I wrote. It did not come from a product manual.

I made a few edits earlier that took out comments like "it was used by Ray Manzarek", but I removed it later on because I thought that this would be taken as "advertising". However, if the keyboard player from The Doors does not bring significance to this synthesizer, I don't know what will.

I will continue monitoring and making corrections (to the best of my ability) until the article meets Wikipedia's standards.

I added an external link to a very informative website about synthesisers. I think it should be sufficient to demonstrate the notability of the Qudrasynth series to those who are lacking knowledge about keyboards and synthesisers in general.Godfinger (talk) 13:15, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
