• Archbishop is named celebrant - The top left corner of this Lodi Sentinel (same as another cite) newspaper identifies the date as Saturday, August 24, 1968 identified Joseph T. McGucken with Bell and then bishop Timothy Manning giving the sermon for the 38th Annual National Italian Catholic Federation. It further reads that later that night a civic banquet was held in Bell's honor.
