PhD? edit

A recent edit by a contributor claiming to be one of Ingham's sons says that Ingham didn't have a PhD. A record exists at the Mathematics Genealogy Project, but I can't find any entries for an A. Ingham at http://www.theses.com/ (a comprehensive list of UK doctoral theses from 1716) and his MacTutor biography makes no mention of a PhD.

The information was in the first version of this page in 2006. That user hasn't been active since 2007 and no references were supplied. I'm going to rewrite the article in line with the information available in the MacTutor biography. Gareth Jones (talk) 11:40, 3 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Possible mistake edit

In the article, the "exists in" symbol is used just before the capital "O". This seems to be a mistake for "=". See Big O notation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.155.219.253 (talk) 11:05, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Both symbols can be used, with big O. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.155.219.253 (talk) 11:08, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
K9re11 has put in an = symbol. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C7:99A5:9E01:792B:BE8C:EAEA:3477 (talk) 14:56, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
